Your files should feel familiar. Your storage should stay yours.
fa.to is a private file vault for Android that works with ordinary SFTP storage. It provides the familiar parts of a modern drive app while leaving the storage server without a readable copy of your files.
01
ENCRYPTED FIRST
Protected before it moves
Files are split into authenticated AES-256-GCM chunks on your Android device. Filenames, folder details and thumbnails are encrypted too, so the storage server receives opaque data rather than a readable drive.
Your vault passphrase is never sent to fa.to or the storage server
Recovery files can be kept offline
Change your passphrase without re-encrypting every file
New and upgraded vault keys use Argon2id to resist offline passphrase guessing
02
YOUR STORAGE
Choose where the encrypted data lives
Connect a home server, a storage box or another SFTP service, or choose a managed fa.to vault and let us handle the storage connection. The same encrypted vault format is used either way, so the server only receives data protected by the Android app.
Password and private-key SFTP sign-in
Server host-key verification
Managed fa.to vaults with a choice of available regions
03
FAMILIAR TO USE
Encrypted files, without the rough edges
Browse folders in list or thumbnail view, preview and pinch-to-zoom images, swipe through media, stream videos and review how your storage is being used. Larger uploads continue in the background with visible progress and cancellation.
Encrypted image and video thumbnails
Move, rename, restore and 30-day Trash
Biometric unlock and configurable auto-lock
THE SIMPLE VERSION
The app handles the files. You keep the keys.
No account required
Self-hosted vaults work without registering with fa.to.
No readable server copy
The storage provider only receives encrypted vault data.
No app-imposed file-size limit
Individual uploads are limited only by available storage and any limits imposed by the server.
